ČEZ RELAY RACE

It's better with two! We all know that phrase. And we've taken it as an example. For the year 2025, we have also prepared relays for pairs (ČEZ relay race 2x5km) or fours (ČEZ relay race 4x2.5km) as part of the 10km run. It is an ideal opportunity for families, friends or work colleagues to spend a sports day together.

How will the ČEZ relay races work?

Registration

  • Registration for the ČEZ relay race is available on the website vmlyr@www.run-tour.cz">www.run-tour.cz in each competitor's account. If you have not run with us yet, the first step is to create your account.
  • In your account, click on the new race and choose which relay you want to complete.
  • The relay is always registered by one runner who is the main contact person for the entire relay. They will receive a confirmation email, a pro-position email, results, photos and diplomas for the entire relay. They also pays the amount for the whole relay at once when registering.
  • Don't forget to name your relay when you register!
  • The general rules of the ČEZ RunTour series also apply to all relay participants. We recommend to read them here.
  • The start number and the most important information about the race will be delivered to you in the week before the race in the race e-mail. In it you will find your start numbers, start times, handoff point and other organizational instructions.
  • The order of the relay members in the registration corresponds to the order of the individual legs in the race. You will find your section number on your start number.
  • If you want to have your relay name on your start number, register no later than Friday 3 weeks before the race (e.g. if the race takes place on the April 13, you will only have your relay name on your start number if you register by March 22).
  • On-site registrations will not be allowed for the relay race.
  • Registrations for relay races are only open until TUESDAY BEFORE THE RACE (8:00 pm)!
  • Participation in the relay counts towards the race total for the RunTour Master 2025 title.
  • ATTENTION, if you are a relay race participant, then your final time will ONLY count towards the relay race results, not the individual 10k race results!!!

Changes in registration

  • Free registration change (change of relay members or re-registration of the whole relay to another city) is possible until FRIDAY at 5 pm 3 weeks before each race (exception is the race in Prague, where free registration change (change of relay members or re-registration of the whole relay to another city) is possible until FRIDAY at 5 pm four weeks before the race).
  • After this time period expires, the change of registration is subject to a fee of CZK 100. These changes can be made every working day from 10am to 5pm, but no later than 5pm on FRIDAY one week before the race!!!
  • Changes are always made by the relay register.

Start of the race

The start of the race of two- and four-person relays is together with the runners of the ČEZ RUN 10 KM. The schedule of each race will be published one month before the race.

Handoff

The relay handoff works via chips on the start number. So, you will not be handing over anything real (e.g. a relay baton), but you just need to run together across the measuring rubber belt.

The handoffs are as follows:

  • Two-person ČEZ relay: There is only one handoff, which takes place over approximately 5 kilometers of the race course.
  • Four-person ČEZ relay: In a four-person relay, the handoff takes place a total of three times. There are two relays, one at the 2.5 kilometer mark, one at the 5 kilometer mark and one at the 7.5 kilometer mark.

Only take over the relay from a teammate who ran the leg before you. If you are fourth in your team, only take over from the teammate who ran the third leg (not the first!)

Handoff locations are marked with an orange flag with the word "PŘEDÁVKA" on it. The specific handoff location with the markings on the map will be sent to you in the race email the week before the race.

How do I get to/from the handoff location?

All runners will transport themselves to the handoff location, and from the handoff to the finish and technical area. You will receive an exact point on the map and a description of the best way to get to that location in your race email. Please do not enter the race course on your way to the handoff location and be safe.

How does the handoff work?

Please pay attention to the graphical representation of the handoff!

You will be waiting for your teammate in the handoff corridor in front of the timing rubber belt (runner A). This corridor is marked by an orange flag with the word "PŘEDÁVKA". As soon as you see your teammate (runner B), you run together towards the rubber belt. Both of you (runners A+B) must run across the rubber timing belt at the same time, this completes the handoff. The rubber belt is laid on the ground and is black in colour. The teammate (runner A) finishes in the area behind the carpet, in the so-called relay finishing depot, receives the medal and refreshments and the race is over for them. Runner B continues to the next handoff or to the finish.

The most important rules for the handoff:

  • Team members MUST NOT swap starting numbers with each other.
  • Under no circumstances may the order of the runners on each leg be changed. You must follow the order of the individual handovers as you have given your names at registration.
  • Do not approach the timing rubber belt while waiting for your relay teammate.
  • Participants in relay races run only their part of the race (one leg).
  • The final order of the relays is determined by the order at the finish, i.e. the official time.
  • Start number and packages for the entire relay will be picked up by the relay registrar on Friday from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm or Saturday from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm.
  • Please arrive at the race with enough time to pick up your start number, get to the handoff, etc. We recommend at least 2 hours before the start.
  • Violation of any of the above rules will lead to disqualification of the entire relay!

Please respect the instructions of the organizers and volunteers to ensure that the entire race is run in order! Thank you.
